Hello! My name is Sherene Bell, and I’m the founder of Freedom Counseling & Wellness, PLLC. I earned my Master of Social Work from Abilene Christian University in 2015 and have dedicated my career to helping others heal and thrive. My journey began as an intensive outpatient therapist, later expanding into inpatient treatment and community mental health, where I worked with both children and adults.
I’m passionate about walking alongside people as they discover joy, resilience, and freedom—even in the face of life’s challenges. My therapeutic style is direct, empowering, and solution-focused, with a touch of humor (because sometimes, if we don’t laugh, we might cry!).
My primary therapeutic approach is cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), where we explore the connection between thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. Additionally, I am trained in dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) and trauma-focused cognitive behavioral therapy (TF-CBT). I believe in tailoring my approach to align with your unique needs and goals for therapy.
Whether you’re facing depression, anxiety, substance use, anger, stress, relationship challenges, self-esteem concerns, or the impact of past trauma, I’m here to walk alongside you and help you discover a path toward healing and freedom. Are you ready to take the next step?
Why Freedom?
“Freedom” carries many layers of meaning for me. As a military brat who became a military veteran, it signifies a deep love for my country and the liberties that define being American. While serving, I became a victim advocate for survivors of sexual assault—an experience that inspired me to pursue a career as a therapist after leaving the military. In that sense, freedom means healing, growth, and living life to its fullest potential. Yet the truest freedom I know comes from my faith in Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior. Without Him, I wouldn’t be where I am today. Through Him, I’ve found my passion for helping others discover peace and joy, no matter their circumstances.
